Going Back In

Well, this has been the week of yuck.  Our regular doctor is in the hospital with back problems, our fill-in doctor is a humorless OCD case, and Kim is now having to go back to the hospital because the latest blood work didn’t look good.  Blech.

So, we’re back on high alert.  It is possible that we’ll be inducing right away…but that’s what we thought last time we went in.  Wish us luck.  Those of you who are on good standing with the big man, feel free to include us in your prayers.

Kim "Couch Potato" Love

Yup, she’s still on bed rest.  Her blood pressure is doing great, Murrow is doing great, but she’s definitely hit the “get this thing out of me” stage of the pregnancy.  It doesn’t help that the seasons suddenly changed this week, so it feels like we’re at the height of summer.  No air conditioning, plus a bowling ball stuck inside her stomach, does not make for a happy Kim…new Kakuro puzzles (thanks B, A, and V) make life a bit easier.  By the way, she rips through those things on an average of 35 puzzles a day…freak.

Big, Big, Big

Yet more confirmation that Murrow “Pork Chop” Love is huge-tastic.  The most recent ultrasound has murrow weighing 7 lbs, and he’s not even to term yet.  Also, the words that no 36 week pregnant woman wants to hear … the diameter of his head is about the size of an average 40 week old fetus.  Wish Kim luck.

Mars and Venus

Today was the “Conscious Fathering” class, where a bunch of guys sat around and played with dolls.  There was the prerequisite comparisons to football and car tachometers, but overall not too shabby.  For some reason, I think it’ll be the only pregnancy class I take where participants are drinking Full Throttle energy drinks and taking smoke breaks.

Tomorrow is the breastfeeding and parenting class, which I will be attending alone (Kim’s still on bed rest of course).  For some reason I’m feeling some nervous about being a man sitting in a room surrounded by pregnant women talking about their boobs.

 Wish me luck.

Bed Bound

Good news, bad news.

Good News: We’re back home, Murrow is still a little fish baby, and Kim’s blood pressure is back at a reasonable level.

Bad News: Kim in on strict bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy, no work, no play … just sitting, laying down, and chilling.

Blueberry Pancakes:Yes MTV:No

Kim and I are still hanging out in the hospital, it’s insanely boring, but it is keeping Kim’s blood pressure down nicely.  We haven’t seen the doctor yet, but they’re still monitoring everything and it’s looking good so far.

By the way, if there’s any enterprising folks out there, here’s a business plan for ya.  Blast a wifi signal at hospitals, office buildings, and hotels that don’t offer internet access.  Geeks like me will pay through the nose to get their email while hanging out with their loved ones.

Eating bon bons

Kim is now holed up in a one-room suite up on Capitol Hill with a view of the city.  Although the room comes complete with a nice woman who brings her food whenever she wants, it also comes with a very drafty and unflattering gown.

Yup, she’s on hospital bed-rest.  Murrow is fine, Kim is fine, however Kim’s blood pressure is too high and seems to be rising, so they’re monitoring her.  Its possible that we’ll be inducing this weekend…hopefully not…we still have too much stuff to do to prepare.  Yikes.
