The Daily Grind

Now that Mo’s got teeth in on the bottom and top, he can do something we all take for granted… grind his teeth. Audibly. Poppa finds it to be a most disturbing development. I’m just wondering when we make that first dentist appointment. And whether I, too, have to go to a dentist at that point.

Our dentist (back in UT) said he wanted to see Nathan for his first check-up at age 2. And by that time all bottles and pacifiers better be history.(this is what we were told.) And I think we should blame the guys for the teeth grinding b/c nathan still does it. we got a sports mouthguard (99 cents at walmart) that he wore for about a year (age 6) until he stopped doing it. then he started getting permanent teeth in. we hear him doing it every now and then, so i don’t know what to make of it.

as for you going to the dentist, remember that pregnancy/nursing severely depletes your calcium, usually straight from your teeth for some reason, so a check up wouldn’t hurt.

if i’m being too opinionated tell me to go away. personally i wouldn’t go near a dentist till i was 9 and then he happened to be my basketball coach so i trusted him somewhat.

Jeff and I grew up with plenty of orthodontia, but I never remember hating going to the dentist (mom might remember differently). However, in my entire adult life I’ve had nothing but sadistic and crazy dentists. Kim’s teeth are pointing all over the place, because she never got her wisdom teeth pulled. But I can’t harp on her, otherwise she might make me go too.
